Beloit College Mindset List

Some of these things they were talking about I didn't even know what they were talking about. I agree that email is too slow, calling someone or texting them would be way faster. I also agree that very few people know how to write cursive because it is getting to where the teachers aren't teaching students how to write in cursive. Walmart does sell handguns. I have never heard of anyone getting married in space but I think that would be pretty cool. I have also never tried setting my toothpaste on the cap I always just throw it in the drawer. I have never tried to get my parents to get divorced and I don't see why kids would want that. I think there were some far fetched things in this article.

  1. I felt the most of the items were a bit extreme as well. The list seemed to really lay it on thick with ironic and satirical topics that suggested our generation has no knowledge of the past.

  2. I don't necessarily agree with you about the internet being too slow. Compared to mail and other broad forms of communication, it is very quick. Yes texting is faster but email is mainly used for people that aren't necessarily acquainted with enough to have each others phone numbers.

  3. I don't completely agree with internet being too slow either. E-mail is widely being used for classes(obviously) and professional communication, where snail mail is too slow. For informal things, texting is much faster and more appropriate...but not in business sense.

  4. I agree with the internet being slower because you have to be by a computer if you want to check it unlike sending someone a message where they can check in like 2.5, but personally I kinda thought the list was degrading I know how to write cursive and that czechoslovakia is country

  5. Well, I can never argue with the cursive comment. If I still remembered it maybe I could, but I don't and I would bet most other people don't remember it either. However, email is much more convenient than using a phone in my opinion. I would rather respond when I like than be forced to talk for however long, but don't get me wrong, I like texting much better. Either way, you make some good points.

  6. I agree with everyone's comments! People may agree or disagree with the talk about email and what is more convenient. Talking and texting may be convenient with people you are close with but with different organizations, clubs, sports, etc, email would be much easier and more organized.

  7. I agree that the list is very stereotypical. Few people know how to use cursive writing (I don't think it is because of the lack of teaching but the lack of use) and snail mail is defiantly too slow and buying stamps is just a hassle. However, I disagree that e-mail is too slow, I think people simply don't have access to it, a problem that is changing due to smartphones, or they do not check it often enough.

  8. I would defiantly call someone rather then e-mail if I needed a quick reply. And I also agree that a kid trying to make their parents divorce is preposterous.

  9. I really agree with you divorce comment. Why would any kid want that? Also the email one was very true too. I think email is extremely slow

  11. I most definitely think people don't perceive our generation as they maybe should. Your blog brings up a lot of great points!
